According to WHO statistics, every fourth woman in the world suffers from urinary incontinence to one degree or another. This condition is not life threatening, but it significantly reduces comfort and interferes with the lady’s activity. Urinary incontinence can be an indirect sign of a more serious illness. Modern medicine has found a solution to this delicate problem.

Types of urinary incontinence

Women often hide their health problems. They are ashamed to admit to their loved ones and the doctor that they are experiencing urinary incontinence. Because of this, treatment is delayed. Chronic conditions are much slower to correct. At the first sign of urinary incontinence, a clinic should be examined. Therapy will help you quickly get rid of the disease.

There are three main clinical forms of urinary incontinence in women:

  • Imperative — associated with a deterioration in the condition of the bladder, inflammation. The person often has the urge to urinate. Spontaneous excretion of urine occurs.
  • Stressful — characterized by weakness of the pelvic floor muscles. It manifests itself during sneezing, coughing, laughing, physical activity, running, jumping. Uncontrolled urine leakage occurs.
  • Mixed — combines the features of imperative and stress incontinence.

In this case, the problem may lie in weak muscles of the perineum, inflammation of the organs of the urinary system, a psychological factor or nerve fibers innervating the bladder.

Diagnostics

A diagnosis of urinary incontinence can be made by a urologist. It is necessary to check women’s pelvic health, take blood and urine tests, conduct an ultrasound examination and cystoscopy. The list of tests and procedures is determined by your doctor. After collecting the history, examination and diagnosis results, the doctor will prescribe treatment.

The causes of incontinence can be:

  • childbirth injuries;
  • chronic diseases;
  • asthma, bronchitis, COPD;
  • infection or inflammation;
  • excess weight;
  • age;
  • menopause and postmenopause.

In some cases, you may need to consult a psychologist or neurologist.

Treatment methods

There are several treatments for urinary incontinence in women. The efforts of doctors are aimed at maintaining women’s pelvic health. The success of the treatment depends on the condition of the intimate muscles (by femme jock belt for example). The choice of technique is determined by the nature of the incontinence and the degree of damage to the urinary system.

In severe cases, surgery may be suggested. In the early stages, drug therapy helps. Anti-inflammatory drugs, hormonal, sympathomimetics are used. Sometimes doctors recommend antidepressants and psychotherapy. The most modern method is laser therapy. It is not traumatic and allows you to get excellent results in a short time.
